Recovery after a Blepharoplasty

After surgery you will have ointment and paper tape strips around your eyelids. Your eyes may feel itchy. Frequent moisturizing eyedrops are the best treatment for this. You will also be asked to avoid any activities that raise your blood pressure. Swelling and bruising will be most noticeable after the first day and will slowly subside after that. Bruising may spread down onto your cheeks (because of gravity). This is normal and will resolve. Your appearance will continue to improve for weeks after surgery. Once completely healed, the scars/incisions will be virtually un-noticeable.

Who can Benefit from a Blepharoplasty?

Patients with excess eyelid skin, puffy eyelids, and droopy eyelids can benefit removal of the excess skin and excess fat. Also if you always have a 'tired' look around your eyes and people comment on it, you may benefit from eyelid surgery

What are the Risks of a Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure. Like all surgical procedures, there are general risks. Please read our information page on potential risks. With regards to blepharoplasty, there are special considerations that need to be taken into account. These include bleeding, asymmetry and injury to the eye and vision. These complications are rare, and usually resolve without leaving any long-lasting abnormalities. In some cases you may need additional surgery to ensure ideal results
