Recovery After Otoplasty
After surgery you will have a large bandage wrapped around your head. It is meant to protect your new ears, keep them in their new position, and apply pressure to minimize the risk of bleeding. This bandage will be changed the following day. You will need to wear a bandage holding your ears back for a total of 7 days. You will also need to wear a head band to protect your ears while you sleep for the next four weeks. Once completely healed, the scars/incisions will be virtually un-noticeable. |
Who can Benefit from Otoplasty?
Patients with asymmetry/differences between the two ears. People with large protruding ears. If this applies to you, you may benefit from having your ears set back.
What are the Risks of Otoplasty?
Otoplasty is a surgical procedure. Like all surgical procedures, there are general risks. Please read our information page on potential risks. With regards to otoplasty, there are special considerations that need to be taken into account. These include breaking of the suture which can lead to recurrence of the ear protrusion, bleeding, and abnormal scarring. If any of these happen, you may need additional surgery. |
