Toronto Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
Breast lift surgery is a procedure that can make a tremendous difference to women whose breasts have lost volume due to weight loss, breast feeding, or aging. Dr. Jugenburg has extensive experience in the new Vertical Breast Lift which produces more youthful, fuller, lifted breasts and has lower complication rates than the traditional breast lift. The results are long lasting.

Breast Lift with rearrangement of breast tissue. Breasts are lifted and a volume appears to be enlarged even though no implants were used.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) through rearrangement of the existing breast tissue only. No implants were used. The outcome is a fuller, perkier, more youthful looking breasts without the use of any implants or other devices.

The above patient had severely deflated breasts following massive weight loss. Breast Lift (Mastopexy) with tissue rearrangement alone (no implants were used) was performed to lift the breast and used the existing breast tissue to create more natural breast shape. |
The surgery uplifts and improves the shape of female breasts that exhibit one or more of the following issues:
- Pendulous/Sagging shape
- Loss of firmness and skin elasticity
- Flat elongated shape
- Nipples that falls below the breast crease
- Nipples and areolas (the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) that point downward
- Stretched skin and enlarged areolas.
Following a Breast Lift you can expect
- Elevated breasts
- Fuller, rounder, more appealing breasts
- Improved symmetry
- Improved nipple/areola shape
Mastopexy Surgery (Breast Lift)
Dr. Jugenburg performs breast lifts with a minimal amount of scarring around the nipple and in some cases, in a vertical line from the nipple down to the breast fold. Unlike the traditional breast lift, Dr. Jugenburg does not use the “inverted T” procedure unless absolutely necessary. After the skin has been cut, Dr. Jugenburg repositions the breast tissue to lift it up and to give it a fuller projection. The new look of the breasts may take time to settle because of swelling that occurs with surgery. Breast lifts do not last forever, as the effects of gravity on the body eventually take their toll.
A computer animation of a breast lift ( mastopexy ), provided by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website provides a general idea of how a mastopexy is performed (note that the exact details of the procedure vary, depending on your preferences and your anatomy).
Breast Lift Scars
There are scars on the breast that are permanent because the surgery involves repositioning of the nipple and breast tissue. Over time most scars fade noticeably. The incision usually has an ‘inverted T’ shape, however at The Plastic Surgery Clinic, Dr. Jugenburg specializes in minimal scarring lifts. Our incisions are limited to the areola, or if a significant lift is required, we add a small vertical incision. We avoid the large incision usually placed under the breast fold.

Breast Lift and Implants (Augmentation Mastopexy)
When an increase in breast volume is also desired, breast implants are inserted in conjunction with a breast lift. Additionally, a skillful placement of a shaped implant also assists in lifting the nipple and giving your breast a more natural and youthful shape
Breast Lift after Pregnancy
Breast lift or Mastopexy is a very common procedure performed for women who have finished having children. It is a part of the Mommy Makeover, a group of surgical procedures that reverse the effects of childbearing and breast feeding. |
