Pregnancy, weight gain, and aging all have an effect on the shape of your midsection. As both men and women age, muscle tone is lost and fat accumulates across the stomach, thickening the waist. Even very thin, young women may have a lower belly bulge that exercise and dieting can’t improve. With Tumescent Liposuction, you can feel confident in that bikini, change the way your clothes fit, and learn to love your waist again.

The Liposculpture procedure is easier than traditional tummy tucks. One or two small incisions are then placed in the upper and lower abdomen to begin the suctioning process. The cannula used to remove the fat is only about 3mm wide – slow, gentle movements mean less pain, less bruising, and a rapid recovery time for patients.

  • This permanent procedure produces noticeable results, leaving you with a more sculpted, flatter abdomen and a more defined waist.
  • Usually lasting an hour or two, our abdominal Liposculpture procedure reduces fat and tightens skin.
  • Most patients are back at work in one or two days.

Why choose abdominal liposuction?

Both men and women benefit from abdominal liposuction. Since moderate amounts of fat can be removed, patients will see a more defined waist and smaller stomach circumference. Men can regain definition, giving them the “6-pack” they’ve always wanted, and women can recapture the smooth, flat stomach from their younger years, even after having a baby. And now, with the Tumescent Liposuction, recovery times are quick and there is less post-op bruising and pain.

What is the procedure like?

First, you are put to sleep so that when you wake up it feels like only a few moments have gone by., the skin is numbed and one or two small incisions are placed on the upper and lower abdomen. Using gentle suction, excess fat is removed with a vibrating cannula, or straw-like instrument. The cannula itself is 3mm – about the size of a cooked spagetti noodle – and leaves no unsightly scars. The procedure lasts for about two hours, and patients walk out of the office with their new, sculpted physiques.

Am I a good candidate for abdominal liposuction?

Patients in general good health with excess fat of the abdomen and stomach can benefit from Liposculpture. Anyone who has fatty deposits under the abdominal muscle – usually patients with barrel-shaped waists – may not be good candidates for abdominal liposuction. Abdominal liposuction can only reduce the fatty layer that rests on top of the stomach muscles.

Will abdominal liposuction give me a 6-pack?

Maybe. Liposculpture is designed to remove fat, so abdominal liposuction will remove the fatty layer to reveal the muscles underneath. The shape of your muscles determines the shape of your stomach: if you have 6-pack muscles, you’ll have 6-pack abs. Flat muscles produce flat stomachs, but most people have small imperfections in the muscles that will persist after having Liposculpture.

Will I have any scars or sagging skin?

Tumescent Liposuction of the abdomen leaves only one or two small puncture sites on the upper and lower stomach, each only about 3mm wide. Any resulting scars are barely noticeable and will normally fade into the natural color of the skin.

With small to moderate liposuction and good skin tone, patients will generally not notice any sagging skin. Older patients or those who have lost a considerable amount of weight may experience sagging or lax skin.

What are the post-op procedures?

You will be able to walk immediately after, enjoy light to medium activities, and return to work in a day or two. You will experience bruising and swelling. A compression garment is worn to minimize swelling and to speed up the recovery.

Good results can be seen within about a month or two, final results within six months.

Will this procedure affect future pregnancies?

No. Abdominal liposuction removes only the fatty deposits from the stomach and will not affect your muscles, organs, or ability to have children.
