Timing and Approach to Buttock Augmentation Surgery

Buttock augmentation procedures should be considered in patients who have flat-appearing buttocks and wish more projection.

Fat Grafting is another option, which is simpler, more natural, but only useful in patients who have extra fat to spare, and who do not require a large in crease in size.

Depending on the extent of surgery that was performed, you may be able to go home after a few hours or you may need to stay in the hospital 2 or 3 days. Showering is permitted on the second or third day after surgery. Pain is mild to moderate and is mostly gone within 7 days and is controlled by medications. Swelling, which is mild to moderate and peaks at 2 to 3 days, disappears over the next 6 weeks. There is minimal or no bruising. You can usually resume light activities within the first week, and most activities within 4-6 weeks. You can expect to be out of work for 1-2 weeks, but you will be able to be up and about. You will be able to stand and to lie on a bed, but sitting and bending forward is not allowed for the first two weeks.
