Who can benefit from liposuction?

Liposuction Procedure

There are several different types of liposuction surgery available for patients. Since patient health and safety are of paramount concern to Dr. Jugenburg, he performs both Tumescent and Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) procedures. Both of these procedures enable Dr. Jugenburg to operate with greater precision and reduced risk to the patient. Tumescent and Power-Assisted Liposuction procedures also have shorter recovery times and superior aesthetic results.

Tumescent liposuction

During tumescent liposuction, Dr. Jugenburg injects a fluid into the area being targeted for the removal of fat cells. The fluid is a mixture of salt water, lidocaine (an anaesthetic) and epinephrine, and facilitates effective and safe removal of the fat and minimizes blood loss during the procedure. A slender tube called a cannula is then inserted into small incisions in the patient’s skin and attached to a vacuum, which gently removes the fat and fluids from your body. Because you’re losing fat and fluids from the suction, the doctor may replenish your body fluid through an intravenous line, also called an IV.

Power-assisted liposuction (PAL)

Powered liposuction uses a cannula that moves in a rapid back-and-forth motion. This vibration enables easier removal of tough fat. Powered liposuction causes less pain and swelling and allows removal of fat with greater precision, especially on smaller areas, such as the arm, knee or ankle.

Power-assisted liposuction is one of the latest technologies developed to maximize liposuction results, minimize recovery time, and do it all in the safest way possible. Unlike Laser-Assisted Liposuction, Power-Assisted Liposuction has a far lower rate of complications.
