After Surgery

Patient health and safety are paramount at the Plastica Clinic.

Our professional staff will ensure that you receive the proper medical care and attention through every stage of surgery, including recovery. Following your surgery, you will be taken to our recovery area where highly skilled ICU- and ER-trained nurses will monitor your progress. They will make certain that your recovery from surgery is both safe and comfortable.
Prior to discharge, our staff will reassess you to ensure that you are safe and ready to go home. You will also be provided with specific instructions, which will explain how to care for your body at home, including what physical restrictions you will have to observe. Your physical activity following surgery should be limited. In general, it takes any wound six weeks before it is strong enough to withstand day-to-day activities. You will be asked to avoid any movements and physical strain that may interfere with proper healing and strengthening of the wound. We know you are excited to see the beautiful new you. But we want you to be both healthy and beautiful, so please be patient. The end result will be well worth the wait!

Following any surgical procedure you can expect to have some bruising and swelling. This is the body’s natural way of healing itself and it should not cause any undue concern. Most side effects will resolve within days but you should anticipate that it could take up to three months before you see the final results of your surgery. This is a small price to pay for the steps you have taken towards a more beautiful you.

It is only natural that surgery can sometimes leave temporary scars. Not to worry. Dr. Martin Jugenburg’s expertise and advanced surgical methods will often minimize the scarring left using more traditional procedures. Scars will go through a normal cycle of healing, which can take up to a year, during which time they go through various maturation changes. Again, as with any surgery, you need to have patience during recovery. Over time the scars will smooth out, settle down, and their colour will diminish so that they blend in with your normal skin leaving them virtually undetectable.
